The Eleanor Crook Foundation
The Eleanor Crook Foundation (ECF) is a U.S.-based philanthropy organisation dedicated to ending global malnutrition through research, policy analysis, and advocacy. Founded in 1997 with a singular goal—to eradicate malnutrition—ECF invests in research to identify effective solutions, advocates for systems reform, and drives urgent policy action to address this global crisis.
Vitol Foundation
Vitol Foundation supports organisations working to break the cycle of poverty in low- and middle-income countries. Over the past 20 years, more than $220 million has been invested in projects worldwide, addressing underdevelopment, conflict, and natural disasters. Committed to real-world problem-solving, the foundation strengthens existing social systems, drives innovation, and creates lasting change for vulnerable children, families, and communities.
CRI Foundation
CRI Foundation, based in Boston, is a private foundation focused on improving health outcomes in Africa. High-impact, contextually appropriate solutions are fostered through funding for NGOs, governments, and implementers to drive sustainable development. The foundation’s grant-making supports healthcare initiatives, while also investing in academic research and regional research infrastructure.
Open Road Alliance
Open Road Alliance provides funding to companies tackling climate change and reducing inequality at critical moments of growth and momentum. Fast, flexible, short-term debt is offered to eliminate financial barriers and unlock impact capital, bridging systemic funding gaps. Since 2017, loans have catalysed meaningful change—preserving jobs, expanding access to renewable energy, improving education and healthcare, and advancing financial inclusion.
EXTERNAL REVIEW PANEL
Decisions on funding are made by an independent External Review Panel. This group brings deep expertise across health, education, humanitarian aid, and economic empowerment, ensuring that resources are allocated with fairness and insight.
The panel is composed of experienced funders, implementers, technical experts and individuals with lived
experience. Crucially, it includes members from the countries Risk Pool Alliance serves, ensuring that local knowledge and community needs shape every decision. By drawing on both expertise and real-world understanding, the panel upholds Risk Pool Alliance’s commitment to fast, responsive, and impactful funding.
CIO REGISTRATION
We have learned a lot since 2018, continuously evaluating our model and refining our approach based on extensive research. Recognising the need for an independent entity to support scaling and offer discreet assistance to implementing organisations, we established Risk Pool Alliance
as a UK-based Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) in 2025. Governed by a board with expertise in philanthropy, social impact, and good governance, we ensure continued expert support for funders and implementers.
