HOW IT WORKS
To apply for support from Risk Pool Alliance, you must be on our Roster and be able to demonstrate that you:
- Encountered an unexpected challenge that prevents you from fulfilling the impact of the original grant and,
- Have identified a clear, discrete, and lasting solution that will preserve, ensure, or restore the intended impact, and
- Possess the capacity, knowledge, and skills necessary to implement the proposed solution, and
- Can implement the solution within the timeline of the original grant—or, if there is a delay due to the challenge, within a timeline explicitly understood and approved as part of the application, and
- Can effectively address the challenge with a grant or bridging loan of $50,000 or less.
CRITERIA FOR SUPPORT
Your challenge must fall within one of the following categories:
Political economy or bureaucracy challenges
• Bureaucratic delays
• Government or policy change
• Labour disputes/strikes
• Political or civil unrest
External market forces
• Bank failure
• Currency fluctuation
• Financial institution de-risking
• Inflation
• Product or service availability
Financial challenges
• Change of funder policy or priority
• Fraud
• Financial mismanagement
• Funder or contractor disbursement delay or default
Operational challenges
• Cyber security
• Equipment failure or critical repair
• Expert error
• Infrastructure failure or critical repair
• Key external relationship changes
• Key personnel or workforce misfortune
• Logistics challenges
• Security and theft
• Technology malfunction or discontinuation
Extraordinary unpredictable events
• Agriculture or harvest failures
• Chemical contamination or HAZMAT incident
• Conflict
• Disease outbreaks
• Environmental or climate related events
• Significant insecurity
TYPES OF SUPPORT AVAILABLE
The Risk Pool Alliance provides two types of funding to help implementing organisations navigate uncertainty and sustain their vital work:
- Standard Grant: Up to $50,000 is available to organisations meeting the eligibility criteria, ensuring they can continue delivering life-changing programmes.
- Bridging Loan: Up to $50,000 is available to organisations experiencing delays in secured funding. This loan is interest-free and repayable within the agreed term, offering a reliable financial bridge during uncertain times.
Grants must be completed within the lifetime of the original funders and loans have a maximum term of 12 months, offering flexible, timely support when it’s needed most.
